Philosophy + Aims
Presentations complement the peer-review, acting to engage the audience and solicit feedback. Here I offer a selection of presentations on a variety of topics.
- Discussion of the CM4X climate model and the mesoscale dominance hypothesis: Seminar given at NYU in Oct 2024.
- A tutorial on some of the technical aspects of water mass transformation analysis in ocean models, 2020: Talk given to colleagues at GFDL and Princeton developing tools of use for water mass transformation analysis.
- A survey talk on some sea level research I have played a role in since roughly 2010 : Lecture given on 09 June 2020 as part of the NASS/GISS Sea Level seminar series.
- A tutorial on Southern Ocean dynamics with a focus on conceptual models, Feb/Mar 2020: Lectures given as part of Princeton University GEO/AOS 521: Special Topics in Southern Ocean Science.
- Vertical Lagrangian-remapping, generalized vertical coordinates, and spurious diapycnal mixing in ocean models, Feb 2020: Lecture given at the COMMODORE workshop (Hamburg, Germany), the DRAKKAR meeting (Grenoble, France), and CESM Ocean Model Working Group meeting (Boulder, Colorado).
- Water mass transformation analysis in ocean models: some thoughts and questions , Jan 2019: Talk given at the Water Mass Transformation Workshop, University of New South Wales, Sydney, AUS.
- Ocean circulation as a problem in mathematical & computational physics, Jan 2019: Talk given at the AMSI summer school, University of New South Wales, Sydney, AUS. Here is a Youtube video of the talk.
